What does our Deck Widener look like in action?

Gellies Earthmoving Deck Widener

They’ll move the earth to reach project goals – quite literally. Gellie’s Earthmoving is an experienced civil construction and earthworks business responsible for some of Australia’s largest civil projects. Recently, they took a delivery of a custom-built Drake Trailers Deck Widener to safely transport their oversized equipment.  Let’s take a look at the kind of projects the Drake Group’s Deck Widener will experience as part of the Gellie’s Earthmoving fleet.

Moving Australia forward

Established as an owner-operator business in 1983, Gellie’s Earthmoving now operates with a team of 20 highly skilled employees, specially trained in safety for civil and infrastructure projects. These skills lend themselves to some of Australia’s largest projects, such as the Dandenong Bypass – connecting Springvale South to the South Gippsland Highway – and the Nagambie Bypass, a bypass which aimed to reduce the number of trucks rambling through the heart of Nagambie.

Gellie’s Earthmoving was also contracted on several sustainable energy projects including the $1 billion Leighten/Vestas MacArthur Wind Farm, which is designed to save 1.5 million tonnes of greenhouse gases every year. To build the wind farm, Gellie’s boxed out road formations for over 100km worth of service roads, construction of 140 tower bases and completed significant cut and fill works.

Custom built for custom jobs

To support their big projects, Drake Trailers custom-built a Quad Deck Widener that’ll help Gellie’s transport their massive fleet of plant equipment, including

  • Bulldozers
  • Excavators
  • Loaders
  • Graders
  • Tractors and scoops

The Quad Deck Widener is one of our most popular trailers, which was showcased at the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show, highlighting the undeniable quality and finishes Drake Trailer’s offers.

The Quad Deck Widener is a fully customisable trailer, perfect for high duty cycle fleets that need optimal manoeuvrability around town and on-site. It features:

  • High tensile quench and tempered steel
  • 8 position sliding skid plate fitted for maximum safety
  • 15” heavy duty Drake axles
  • Hydraulic controlled ramps
  • 9hp Diesel electric start hydraulic

Of course, custom jobs call for custom builds, so our Deck Widener can also be fitted with any of the following:

  • Hydraulic gooseneck
  • Drop-bed frame
  • Various axles and deck lengths
  • Hydraulic powered air compressor
  • Radio remote control suspension and steering
  • Joint kit
  • Various storage options

The ever-growing popularity of our Deck Wideners confirms that a Drake Group Drake Trailer is a quality investment, built to thrive under Australia’s harshest conditions. Every Drake Trailer built is supported by a superior level of after-sales service and spare parts. If your business needs a custom-built trailer to support your heavy haulage, contact us today to discuss your requirements.
